My work
My practice has evolved over the years but remains firmly rooted in quiet observation, primarily expressed through drawing. A career in design and education has deeply influenced my approach, fostering a strong connection to colour and composition that continues to shape my work.
Currently, my painting centres around three main elements:
Abstract Landscapes — Colour, Shape, and Pattern
These pieces aim to establish a dialogue with the surrounding space. Created from a blend of imagined and sourced imagery, they emerge through a process of experimentation and sketching inspired by both urban and rural landscapes. Colour plays a vital role in these works, bringing both senses of calm and vitality to everyday environments.
Objects — Evoking Memories
This strand focuses on the ordinary, drawing inspiration from vintage magazines and imagery of familiar objects such as perfume bottles, old buildings, chairs and garden sheds. Through these, I explore the subtle ways objects carry memory and meaning.
People — Everyday Quiet Moments
I find inspiration in the tranquil moments of everyday life: people engaged in simple, often overlooked activities such as using their mobile phones or reading on the train. These fleeting interactions reveal a quiet intimacy that resonates deeply with me.
